A WORD On Parenting

Christian parents have claimed Proverbs 22:6 as a wonderful promise concerning their children.  A promise that their sons and daughters would turn out to be model Christian young people. However, many Christian parents have been extremely disappointed and even bitter towards God when their kids have turned out to be anything but model Christians. Some rebellious "Christian" teenagers have even gotten themselves into big trouble. They know the word, they go church, but still they choose to go their own way.  Parents may ask themselves what happened? Is God not true to His Word? Does He make exceptions to His promises? Did I as a parent claim a promise that really isn't a promise?

The answer is NO

In actuality Proverbs 22:6 is one of the least-believed, least-PRACTICED verses of the Bible by Christian parents.  Just because a family attends church every Sunday, participates in ministries, and have their child (ren) in many “Christian” youth programs does not mean that the proper training was going on in the home.  For example, what may appear as a model “Christian” home may not always be.  Discipline may have been little to non-existent, family devotions may be infrequent, very little attention being paid to what children are reading, watching or listening to.  Then there is the absence of communication and/or very little love expressed between parents and children.  The teenager who lives in these homes are NOT exceptions, but rather proofs that Proverbs 22:6 is not really practiced.   Most of Christian parents who do not use Proverbs 22:6 as a guide could possibly see their children stray.  The catch is, NO ONE has ever done a perfect job in training up a child in the way he should go. However, to the degree that parents PRACTICE Prov. 22:6, it WILL WORK.  It’s a promise and God is not like man that he should lie.  Keep the faith and train your child.  Even when you’re tired, continue to train. Even when you’re disgusted, continue to train.  Even when all else fails…TRAIN!!!

Remember. . . Gods word NEVER returns Void.

I was just thinking

Today I woke thinking about what if this was the last day of my life…. I pray I would be in right standing with God.  It is amazing how we live sometimes, like we have all the time in the world and we really don’t.  Life really is not long; we wish times away so muchJust thinking, that we miss out on the wonders of each day.  Think about how you wish your time on your job will go by, or a meeting will end, or your children will hurry up and grow up or the sermon will end.  If we are not careful in our thoughts we wish life right on by.  Today I do not want to do that. I don’t want the day to end quickly. I don’t want to rush my husband when he is sharing hoping he will quickly get to the point.  Or that people who greet me two or three times a day at my job would stop and I would not think you already spoke to me today.  Or even when I am struggling with situations, that I will take time to see there is some good, even it is just a lesson learned.   I have missed out on some valuable time….I do not want to live like that anymore….so today I choose to live it like it was my last…What about you????

In Need of a Breakthrough!

Breakthroughs we all want them, but do we really believe we can obtain it?  Some people pray day and night, some fast and some read and quote verses of scripture.  All these are very important, but we're still missing the mark.  I was talking with a friend about wanting a breakthrough.  She shared with me that she realized that true breakthroughs is being obedient to what God wants you to do and getting out of your comfort zone. That same week I heard a message in church similar to what she was saying. It was confirmed that it's time to get out of my comfort zone. Sisters, it's easier said than done.  To be totally honest with you all I'm struggling with this myself at this very moment in my life.  I wonder how Abraham was feeling when he laid Isaac on the altar getting ready to sacrifice him.  He did not know how or what God was going to do, but he trusted him enough, that he knew that the Creator of the Universe, the Lord of Lords, and the King of Kings would not forsake him.  He TRUSTED and he was no longer in his comfort zone by not being able to see, he just knew God would.  There are plenty of examples in the Bible where men and women got out of their comfort zones, trusted God and as a result breakthroughs were in the palm of their hands.  Today let's get out of our comfort zones, trust God even when we can not trace him and watch God move in our lives...... God Bless!!
